Reading Disability Written by Nancy Mairs made me sense that even though She has a disability that may make her walk with a brace and a cane or most often you will see her in a wheel chair you will not see a women with her disability on television simply because of her disability even though she is able live a normal ordinary life just like many others. The question choose another group that you think has been effaced in television or advertising and programing really left me thinking and pondering to myself that to me one particular group has been effaced from all the above Muslims or also known as Towel Heads. The Muslim culture has been heavily effaced over the past few years due to the tragic events of 9/11. Our society has been left feeling angered, heart broken and also we must deal with the pain and fear that Osama Bin Laden has left in our country. The actions caused by Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda have tainted Americans view of Muslims because of their ethnicity and beliefs. Bin laden being the founder of Al-Qaeda has released numerous videos and recordings to the public stating his role in the war of Afghanistan the recordings and videos also show his hatred towards Americans and former U.S president George W Bush. These videos and recordings Stir up our hatred and negativity towards Osama Bin laden and his Kind. Bin laden Islamic belief now has an affect on others who believe in the same religion and are now stereo typed as terrorists or towel heads. It is very unfortunate scenario because my best friend dated a boy from a Middle Eastern descent who happened to be Islamic and the kid turned out to be one of the nicest kids I have ever met! It’s just that one man can put such a bad reputation on an entire religion and country. Aamir the boy my best friend dated would always tell me stories how if his family and him would go to the airport they were always ones to get selected to go to private...
